November Meeting

Our last meeting for 2017 will be Thursday, November 16th at 6:45. It will be our annual Holiday Handcrafted gift exchange and Potluck. The description for the gift exchange is pretty open ended...any holiday and at least partially handcrafted (by somebody) and not expensive. Get creative!

It is also an evening to bring food/drink to share. Once you are ready to commit to something, mention it in our Facebook group comments so that we don't have too many duplicates. Or just bring what makes you happy!

This is always a fun evening, so come to socialize and exchange gifts. We really hope you attend even if you do not wish to participate in the gift exchange!!!

Feel free to come early and shop! Woodside Quilting has generously provided our meeting space and shopping is one way to thank them.

Modern show and tells and forming a 2018 steering committee are on the agenda as well!!

October Meeting

Our meeting is Thursday, October 19th at Woodside Quilting. 

Most of you probably saw Erin's idea for a program posted on our Facebook site.

I have an idea for a meeting program. I always think it's a shame that we don't take time to learn from each other's results at the quilt show. So my suggestion is that we bring our show quilts in with the comment card and go over the judges comments so we can see what was considered to be good or needing work and improve our own skills. This may also encourage those who have never entered a show not to be afraid to enter next year. Even if you don't quilt for shows you might learn something to improve your skills.

Please bring anything you entered in the quilt show. We would all love to see and learn!!

September meeting

Our meeting is Thursday, September 21st at Woodside Quilting. 

Jill Guffy plans to present an exercise on Notan! Please bring a pair of good pointed paper scissors and a glue stick. Black and white paper will be supplied by Jill.

August Meeting

Our August meeting will be the last meeting Connie Burton Feld Remetch can attend before her move. It will be fun to reminisce and to wish her well on her upcoming adventure! Hope to have you here to share in the fun!

Finish Up Challenge Night

It is the official Finish Up Challenge Night. It is time to document those finishes. Share your completed projects, even if you've pictured them on the Facebook trail, we would love to see them in person.

June Meeting

Our meeting is Thursday, June 15th at Woodside Quilting. Surprising, but when the first Thursday of the month is the 1st, the third Thursday rolls around quickly!

May Meeting, Thursday May 18th

Our meeting is this Thursday at Woodside Quilting. The actual meeting starts at 6:45. 

Eva Marie will do a presentation on Minimalism. I'm so eager to see and learn!! I've been looking forward to this since Eva Marie volunteered to share!

Just a reminder that the charity quilt blocks are due this week. If you are not able to attend Thursday night, please try to send them with someone or drop them off at Woodside ahead of time.

April 20th Meeting

We have a meeting this Thursday at Woodside Quilting. The actual meeting starts at 6:45. 

Mary P. will be running the meeting.

Emily V. will do a presentation on embroidery. It will be a special opportunity to see and learn!

Your Paint Chip challenges are due. We've already seen a few, can't wait to see some more!

Our March meeting is coming right up on Thursday, March 16th at Woodside Quilting. We are going to start the actual meeting at 6:45. 

Riane will be presenting a program on sashiko. It should be a wonderful learning experience!

Marny will address the use of negative space in modern quilting. 

And as always, bring those modern show & tells! 

February 16th meeting, Garage Sale

Our February meeting is coming right up on Thursday, February 16th at Woodside Quilting. We are going to start the actual meeting at 6:45. 

It will be a fun Garage Sale Night!! Go through your stash, price all the quilt quality fabrics, books, etc. that you would like to sell, and bring them to the meeting. Bring your cash and checks so that you can buy!

Sherry will present a short program on asymmetry in our ongoing monthly exploration of modern design.

And we always enjoy show & tell! 

First meeting 2017!

Our first 2017 meeting is coming right up on Thursday, January 19th at Woodside Quilting. We are going to get started with the actual meeting at 6:45. 

• Connie will share the overall direction our Des Moines Modern Quilt Group, as a group within the Des Moines Area Quilters Guild, is going to take this year. 
• Connie also plans a short overview of Modern quilting. 
• Marny will present the preliminary 2017 calendar that the steering committee has devised. Lots of room for helpful suggestions and additions remains! 
• Jill McBroom will explain the ever popular Finish It Up challenge. Deadline is July.
• A new, to our group, Paint Chip Challenge will start too. If you can't be at the meeting and you want to participate (deadline is April at this point), designate someone to draw your random paint chips for you please!

Garage Sale coming in February!! One quilter's stash is another quilter's treasure...or something like that. This too will be explained.

The quilting year is off to a great start!!
